4. Travel Buddy service
TravelMoreWithNat may provide a Travel Buddy matching service for adults who would like to find a potential travel companion.
The service allows people to create a Travel Buddy profile and, where they have a specific trip in mind, request a paid matching service.
The Travel Buddy service is separate from the general read-only website.

If you create a Travel Buddy profile, we may collect information such as:
- first name;

Please do not provide sensitive personal information in free-text fields.
Information collected about a specific trip
If you purchase a Travel Buddy matching service, we may also collect:
- destination;
- travel dates;
- flexibility around those dates;
- preferred departure airport or airports;
- approximate trip budget;
- type of trip;
- preferred activities;
- preferred travel pace;
- accommodation preferences;
- information about your ideal travel companion;
- information about anything that would make a potential match unsuitable.
We only use information that is reasonably necessary for the Travel Buddy service.
Please do not provide sensitive personal information in free-text fields.
5. Why we use Travel Buddy information
We may use your Travel Buddy information to:
- create and maintain your Travel Buddy profile;
- identify potentially compatible travel companions;
- compare trip details and travel preferences;
- calculate potential compatibility between travellers;
- rank potential matches;
- provide you with information about potential matches;
- contact you about potential matches;
- facilitate introductions between people who both want to connect;

- keep appropriate business and transaction records;
- comply with legal obligations.
We will not publicly display your Travel Buddy profile.
6. Lawful bases for processing
We will only process personal information where we have a lawful basis to do so under applicable data protection law.
The lawful basis will depend on what we are doing with your information.
Providing a service
Where you request a Travel Buddy service, we may process information because it is necessary to provide the service you have requested.
For example, we need your destination and travel dates to identify potentially compatible travellers.
Consent
We rely on consent where consent is required.
For example, we rely on consent for our email marketing list.
You can withdraw your marketing consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or contacting us.
Legitimate interests
We may process information where it is necessary for our legitimate interests, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.

- maintaining website security;
- preventing fraud and misuse;
- responding to enquiries;
- administering our business;
- improving our services;
- maintaining appropriate business records.
Legal obligations
We may process personal information where necessary to comply with a legal obligation.
7. Travel Buddy matching and profiling
The Travel Buddy service involves comparing information provided by members to identify potentially compatible travel companions.
For example, we may compare:
- destination;
- travel dates;
- date flexibility;
- departure airport;
- budget;
- accommodation preferences;
- activity preferences;
- travel style;
- age preferences;
- gender preferences;
- other information provided specifically for matching.
We may use automated processing to calculate a compatibility score or rank potential matches.
The purpose of this processing is to identify potentially suitable travel companions.
The matching process does not determine whether someone is a suitable person to travel with.
A compatibility score does not guarantee that two people will get along or enjoy travelling together.
We do not use the matching system to make decisions about your eligibility for financial services, employment, insurance, housing or other similarly significant matters.
Where appropriate, potential matches may be reviewed by us before they are contacted.
8. Information shared with potential travel buddies
We will not make your Travel Buddy profile publicly available.
If we identify someone who may be a suitable travel buddy, we may provide that person with limited information about you.
This could include:
- first name;
- approximate age or age bracket;
- general location;
- destination;
- travel dates;
- general travel preferences;
- information about why we think you may be compatible.
We will only share information that is reasonably necessary for the matching service.
We will obtain confirmation from both people before exchanging direct contact details.
Once you have agreed to connect with another traveller and we have shared contact information, that person becomes independently responsible for how they use your information.
You should therefore only share information that you are comfortable providing.
9. Travel Buddy safety
TravelMoreWithNat does not independently verify every statement made by members.
We cannot guarantee that a person is who they say they are or that a potential travel buddy will behave appropriately.
We therefore recommend that you:
- communicate with a potential travel buddy before travelling together;
- consider having a video call;
- meet in a public place if meeting locally;
- tell someone you trust about your plans;
- arrange your own travel;
- avoid sending money to people you meet through the service;
- avoid sharing sensitive financial information;
- consider arranging separate accommodation until you are comfortable travelling together.
More information is provided in our Travel Buddy Terms & Conditions.

For example, an AI tool may help create a natural-language explanation of why two travellers appear compatible.
We intend to use AI as a supporting tool.
It will not be used to assess someone’s character, determine whether someone is safe, or guarantee that someone is suitable as a travel companion.
For our Travel Buddy service, we use Open AI which receives only first names, plus trip information and travel preferences.
