If you’re starting your journey in Milan, reaching Portofino is straightforward. Catch a train from Milan to Santa Margherita Ligure (about 2 hours).

Once you arrive in Santa Margherita Ligure, hop on the local 782 bus to Portofino. The bus stops right outside the train station and takes around 15 minutes. It’s budget-friendly and convenient for a Portofino day trip. And you can pay by debit card on board.

That said, like any popular destination, it’s always a good idea to secure your personal belongings, especially in crowded areas.
